Sheikh Habeebullah Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory is a bearer of national honour, conferred with the Award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), in appreciation of his unique, immense and unmatched contributions to National Development and which has been poised, since then, as a nudge for him to doing more in his unrelenting quest to promoting the Islamic tenets and principles plus the Nigerian Project. He Was Among the 86 Nigerians so conferred and honoured at the time.
The award has been particularly instructive for the Muslim ummah in general and Islamic scholars in particular because it gives the lie to claims – and costly erroneous belief among the current generation of Muslims in Nigeria – that you can only succeed or be reckoned with in Nigeria if you acquire western education.
Like his father, the Late Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory, who was one of the erudite scholars in the world, with special reference to Africa, and particularly Southwest Nigeria. He was a frontline and pioneer Islamic Scholar; Sheikh Habeebullah Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory also combines teaching, propagation, scholarly publication, Imamship and lots more together. It is very rare to find scholars with all these combined qualities. They either major in one or two.
Mudeer Markaz is a well-known scholar who champions uncovering the lies from the truth and stands for unity at all times, forging a common front within and among families and the larger society. He is also blessed by Allah such that most people who stood by him are always successful in their endeavours. Anyone who draws close to him has a share of blessings. This is how Allah made him.
His Ramadan lectures for a decade have been the subject of love and admiration by not only the Muslim Ummah but the generality of humanity.
