FILSU ELECTION: Electoral Commission and Iwo Press Club Organises Epoch-Making Event For Aspirants

As earlier reported the electoral debate organised by Iwo Press Club in conjunction with the FILSU ISEC was held today at Iwo City Hall.

The event started slightly behind the schedule due to some logistics issues but eventually lived up to expectations as participants commended the Press Club afterward for the yeoman job done for the success of the event.

One of the candidates for the Vice Presidential office, Isamot Hassanat promised to use her office if elected to champion the girl child campaign and wage war against rape in our community. While her opponent for the same opposition Abimbola Fatimat promised to be a symbol of unity in the union if she gets elected.

The climax of the debate was when the Presidential aspirants square up intellectually against each other.

Ganiyu Abass a student of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) promised to make FILSU financially independent if elected as President and also create empowerment schemes for union members.

Ismail Afeez, a student of Federal Polytechnic Offa equally assured to make a positive impact in the union and community as a whole if elected as President. While the third presidential aspirant Adebayo AbdulAfeez, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University promised not to sideline any executive member that is not of the same political camp with him prior to the election if he finally emerges as President.

Dignitaries at the event include Comrade Akin Asifat, the acting Chairman of FILSU Alumni, Jubril Akintayo a former acting President of FILSU, Comrade Abiola Adewale a former FILSU President, Comrade Yekeen Musa, Comrade Rabiu Ademola, and some other students leaders.
