The 20 African billionaire are worth $68.7 billion unlike last year when the total worth was $75.4 billion.
In the 2020 list, South Africa and Egypt are tied with five billionaires each, Morocco has two, while Zimbabwe and Tanzania have one billionaire each.
The forbes’ Africa Billionaire list 2020 shows once again that Aliko Dangote, the founder and CEO of Dangote Groups remains African richest person for the ninth consecutive time.
The Nigerian-born businessman maintained the top spot on the list with a net worth of $10.1 billion. Dangote got his wealth from cement, oil and gas, flour and sugar. He is as well number 136 on Forbes’ ‘world’s richest’ list.
He outshines Egyptian billionaire, Nassef Sawiris, who took second place with a networth value of $8 billion.
Mike Adenuga, Nigeria’s second richest man tied for third place with South Africa’s Nicky Oppenheimer with a networth value of $7.7 billion.
Adenuga earned his fortune on banking, oil production and telecom.
Nassef Sawiris is the biggest winner of the year, taking up his position as the second richest man in Africa for the first time. He is worth $ 8 billion, up from $ 6.3 billion last year.
Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, took the last position on the list with a net worth of $ 1 billion.
