Traditional Rulers Finally Meet, Oluwo and Ooni Finally Put Rifts Aside

The persistent conflict between Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi and Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been laid to rest on Thursday when the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers met for the first time.
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, reacting to the ongoing tensions with Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1. Arole Oduduwa, Oba Enitan, said that he had no resentment with Oluwo as speculated.
The meeting of the traditional council, which took place on Thursday, in presence were; the Elerinmo of Erinmo, Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Alaagba of Aagba, Owamiran of Esa Oke, Olunisa of Inisa, Olufon of Ifon, Oloba of Oba-Ile, Alie of Ilie, Owamiran of Esa Oke, Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Ademula of Ifewara, Oluresi of Iresi, Aragberi of Iragberi.
During the meeting, Oba Ogunwusi said that it has been long such meeting hold. The meeting is usually held on a monthly basis. Oba Ogunwusi, while addressing the cross-section of Obas, he said this is not the time to blame anybody or point accusing fingers at anybody.
Ooni of Ife said; “It’s been long since we held this meeting. The meeting is usually held on a monthly basis. This is not the time to point accusing fingers at anybody.”
“The Timi of Ede came to me and told me that he would not be here because he was traveling out and that he had scheduled the trip before the meeting was called.
Oba Ogunwusi continued; “Some traditional rulers have joined their ancestors since our last meeting. They include Olubosin of Ifetedo, Salu of Edunabon and Olulamokun of Yakoyo.
“We should portray ourselves the way we should. Also, we should carry ourselves with dignity and royalty. We should unite and stand as one. Our meeting is how to bring about development to our state and the nation.”
Oba Enitan, however, especially acknowledged the presence of the Oluwo of Iwo land at the meeting. Ooni of Ife said no one had prevented Oba AbdulRasheed from attending meetings of the traditional council.
“I greet Oluwo especially, being his first time coming here. Nobody is asking you not to come here. This is your house.”
However, during the meeting, a 9-man welfare committee was constituted by the council. The Oluwo of Iwo land was appointed to chair the committee. The committee, which is responsible for ensuring adequate and sufficient welfare for the monarchs.

In his final note, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi stressed that peace and harmonious relationship between traditional rulers are very important. He also said, unity and healthy growth will not only be ensured in Osun State but also in Nigeria as a whole.
