As humans, we are known for our imperfections and the ability to err while seeking mundane materials. But in the long run, one should never forget the hereafter as whatever we do here, we’ll surely give account for it, be it lawful or unlawful.
However, it’s not bad to seek wealth or work towards worldly comfort as Allah has enjoined that we seek our ‘lawful’ portion in this world. He says ‘And seek from what Allah has given you, eternal abode, but do not forget your portion from the world…’
This implies the means at which we also acquire our wealth must be pure, within the confines of the permissible. It is a gross misconception and the highest level of deceit for no one but one’s soul to think that wherever one acquires his wealth from isn’t important, as long as it is spent ‘the right way’.
That mosque you built after embezzling public fund; that 30 days Ramadan Iftar after killing people for ritual, that hajj trips you send people to after engaging in internet fraud; etc. Do not forget, you can’t wash the faeces off its smell.
Do not forget ‘the day all secrets will be exposed. And humans will have no power nor helper’.
