When “WEST LOKAN” turned to “BEST LOKAN” Osun west adopts the best candidate.
Monday, 27th August is a landmark in the history of the state as not only is it the day the state was created but also the day Osun people particularly Osun west decided to join the train of progress.
In the run-up to the September 22 elections, there have been agitations that the position of the governor should rotate to Osun West which gave birth to the slogan “West LOKAN”. These agitations led to the ambitions of several politicians who didn’t have a vision but whose only tactics is to ride on the mantra of West LOKAN to the office.
It is said that conditions would continue to push the citizens towards the course of getting good governance. It was in this spirit that the people of Osun West came out in their numbers to show their support for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the September 22 election, Senator Iyiola Omisore and his running mate, Hon. Opeyemi Lawal.
This massive support was hinged on their trust in the manifestoes of the SDP which they reiterated is the key to the development of the state. Furthermore, the people explained that history has proven to them that having a governor from your senatorial district doesn’t guarantee good governance and isn’t a shield against anti-people policies.
This, they said was learnt from the travails of indigenes of Osun East who weren’t spared from the hunger and misery imposed on citizens of Osun state by Aregbesola who incidentally is from Osun East; as workers and pensioners were not spared from half salaries and stillbirth pensions.
The people also dismissed those chanting the West LOKAN mantra as political opportunists. And they reiterated that appeal to sentiments could not stop them from voting the best candidate even though he is not from the west.
The people thereby expressed their readiness to vote for the SDP in the September 22 elections. The gubernatorial candidate of the SDP, Senator Omisore while speaking noted that the sufferings of the people are almost over. Therefore, he charged them to be vigilant on the day of the election.
With this development, it is becoming crystal clear that the people of Osun state eager to get back on track after eight years in the wilderness.
